St. Patty’s Day

In SL!  I took a look around to see what is going on in Second Life on St. Patty’s Day.  Yes, they celebrate holidays there too, from all over the world.  One of the fascinating things about Second Life is seeing what others do on important days, or even not so important days.  It reflects their lives in rl.  I ended up at what appeared to be a store that sells things to celebrate St. Patty’s Day.  But…while it may have been a store, it provided fun in itself, just looking around. You can visit Elizabeth Town’s St. Patty’s Day Town and have a look-see too, if you like.   (Whenever I post a link in SL, you MUST have the game installed to visit, if not, you will be invited to install the game when you click on the link.)

I found….

I found the gold at the end of the rainbow!!!

I found the gold at the end of the rainbow!!!

Yep, I did. I found the proverbial gold at the end of the rainbow.  That little purple blob standing IN the rainbow is me. :)   Now, if I could only convert all that gold in to REAL MONEY, I’d share.  (So, all of you alchemists out there, please, work on this idea, I’m willing to share.)

Oh, but first, almost forgot, what good is St. Patty’s Day without:

Yep, I got one, you will see!

Yep, I got one, you will see!

Green Beer!

Green Beer!

a St. Patty’s Day hat, AND GREEN BEER!!!  A must have.  Fits perfectly, don’t you think? Clashes a bit with the purple maybe, but oh well, wasn’t gonna go home to change just for that.  Would you?

I also, danced a jig.  I DID!  Swear!  See,

Dancing a jig. Still got my beer too!

Dancing a jig. Still got my beer too!

I am!  You would be amazed to know that even while my beer was tilted OVER MY SHOULDER, not ONE drop escaped from that mug.  Now, that is a drink I like.  (The little green balls allow others to dance with me, hard to explain, but they do, scripts run movement in SL.)

St. Patty's Day version of a dunk tank!

St. Patty's Day version of a dunk tank!

Now, who wouldn’t want this?  The St. Patty’s Day, SL, version of a dunk tank.  Beer provided with every swallow upon dunking. I tried to get some dunking action going, there were no takers. :(   I guess they wanted to be on the hot seat.  There were others there, I think it will be MUCH busier today than it was when I visited on Tuesday. :)

    • Yes, it is a VERY graphic intense game. On my “New” computer, just bought a month ago or so, I still have to turn the graphics down (which you do in game) to the lowest setting. Lots of background stuff doesn’t show up then, but it helps your computer. It is a good game, I have played too long tho, don’t go on like I use to.

  2. Second Life for St. Patrick! Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Dublin, Ireland. Thanks for helping the world think of us over here. It’s nice to be in the green spotlight on one day a year, at least.
    Best,
    Conor

    • Heck, you should check out the page for Butte, MT, they live for St. Patty’s Day there. I lived there for ten years as a kid, and the town is considered one of the best celebrators of St. Patty’s Day in the U.S. You are not forgotten! I’m Irish, way back of course, but could not forget my roots! :) I hope you had a terrific St. Patty’s Day! :) Drink any green beer? :)

      • Sadly not. Had a pretty awful afternoon watching the old enemy England roundly beat us at rugby in the 6 nations championship. However, I don’t let these things get me down (too much). We went out to dinner at a friend’s house and ate and drank pretty well. All in all a good day.

  3. This all looks very exciting; have a great time. If you find that alchemist you’re looking for tell him you have a friend who’ll invest….! ;)
We are about to leave within the hour for a Saturday night social; and guess what the theme is? You guessed it ‘St Pat’s day’… I have my green nail polish on – will be wearing a green skirt and green flower on my blouse…! Should be fun… ;)

          • Had a terrifec time…! ;)
Don’t shoot me; we didn’t take any photos… ! Sorryyyyyy… we meant to; yet, ya know, it’s just not something that we normally do, and so we just plain forgot…! We’re a spoilt mob…. I’m realising that we take a lot for granted.! To us it’s nothing special to do the things we do, like enjoying a fun dance and dressing up; just a part of our normal lives now.
We did dance a jig though. A few of us were kidding about waiting for the music to begin when one of the guys starting doing an imitation of a jig (or so we all thought… none of us being Irish). So we all joined in (we do have a lot of fun, I’m realising). So different to the life I used to know… worlds apart (thank goodness).
Have you been back to SL?

            • No photos……:( Oh well, next time. I am glad you had a terrific time, very important. Did you stay long? Were there a lot of people? Ohhhh…you danced a jig? How very neat! Wish I could have seen that! It had to have been fun. It sounds like you had fun, impromptu fun is the best! I think. Yes, worlds apart, and like you said, thank goodness! HUGS!

              • The only time that people kinda expect and accept photos being taken are at the balls (2/year – Xmas in July and Christmas) and sometimes at special socials like halloween… ;) it would seem (to them) too insignificant to take photos at other socials… We are a spoilt bunch; that’s for sure…
Well, if you could call it a jig; we had fun though, yes. ;) Some of tried to do the Irish dancing holding our arms at our sides like Riverdance…. wow that takes some doing….! Not ready for that one… ;)

              • Taking them only during those times of the year does make sense, special occasions are to be expected, the others you are having fun and/or competing. Or both. I have never tried to dance the jig, have only seen it. I saw Riverdance while I lived in Vegas. AWESOME SHOW!! I loved it.

              • I’d love to see Riverdance… certain it would be spectacular… They were here, not so long ago… only for a short time and we couldn’t go (other things happening)… maybe one day… ;)
