My aunt took these photos yesterday, 5/27/2012, while at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.

Look at the sheer numbers of markers.  At ONE National Cemetery.  Just one. Seeing all these numbers made me think.  If this is one cemetery, add all of the markers from ALL of the National Cemeteries. Then, add all of the markers for those who are NOT buried at National Cemeteries.

It makes me incredibly sad.

When are we going to learn?  Not just the U.S., cuz this isn’t just a U.S. problem.  It is world-wide.

I feel like we are thumbing our noses at all those who have sacrificed for us.  Obviously our governments have learned nothing after centuries of fighting.  Will they ever?  We can tout and yell about how we remember.  It won’t mean anything until WE ACTUALLY REMEMBER AND PUT THOSE MEMORIES IN TO PRACTICE.  Actions speak louder than words.  I’m sorry our soldiers, and those all over the world, have to continuously provide the “action” with their lives while our governments learn and provide nothing.

They think they are providing a great service when they provide nominal health care, markers for graves.  The best service would be to actually remember why people have died and to act upon it by making this world a better place. That is why our soldiers died, hoping to make the world a better place. Now if only our governments could do that, what could be a better service to provide? What better rememberance?

For wildlife enthusiasts hoping to catch a glimpse of wolves, grizzly bears and bison at Yellowstone National Park, the best place to be on the lookout may soon be a cellphone.

New smartphone apps enable people to pinpoint where they’ve recently seen critters in Yellowstone. People who drive to those locations can – at least in theory – improve their odds of seeing wildlife compared to the typical tourist’s dumb luck.

One app called Where’s a Bear promises “up to the second” animal sightings in Yellowstone. Recently a website called Yellowstone Wildlife began offering a similar app.

Websites long have kept track of animal sightings in Yellowstone. Already this spring the Yellowstone Wildlife site shows signs of life: Mule deer near park headquarters at Mammoth, bison in the area of a landmark petrified tree.

A message on the site warns of grizzlies feeding on a bison carcass near the Yellowstone River Trail. The statement relayed from the National Park Service could save a life. Grizzly attacks killed two tourists in Yellowstone last summer.

But not everybody thinks that making a lot of wildlife sighting information readily retrievable by phone is a hot idea. As it is, the crowds that stop to gawk at roadside wildlife in Yellowstone can grow to hundreds of people, pointed out Vicky Kraft, of Pine Mountain, California, who maintains a Facebook group for Yellowstone.

Grizzlies are especially challenging for park rangers who have to both direct traffic and keep people a safe distance away.

“It’s crazy. There’s no parking. People sideswipe each other because they’re looking at the bear,” Kraft said Monday.

Wildlife becoming too comfortable around people is another concern. A grizzly habituated to people is even more dangerous than your average bear.

“I think there’s a responsibility that a person should have if they really like Yellowstone to say, ‘Gee, is this going to be bad for the animals? Is it bad for the ranger? Is it bad for the park?’ And I think when you look at a situation with that app, the answer would have to be yes,” Kraft said.- Sapa-AP

Just a conservative hillbilly stuck in California who is slapping down liberals and RHINOS with the back-hand of tuth.( This is said with a smile on my mug!)
Also, just a simple guy who loves to work out,fish, listen to old country and western music while drinking beer in the back yard. Someday soon I will have an rv so I can spend my summers off anywhere I choose; Probably next to the river with a line soakin’ in the water.

My out look on life: I don’t want nothin’ from the federal governemt other than to be left alone. It would also be nice if they would quit stealin’ the fruits of my labor, and givin’ it to those wo don’t work, or are lokkin’ for a handout.

Everybody is welcome here on my Hillbilly porch. I might rant, rave, and melt down at times, but always feel free to hand me a beer, and speak your mind. Then hand me another beer!
