You may remember an article I posted about a week ago about an Opera, Anya17, that will be performed March 7th, 2012 in Liverpool, England.  The Opera is being performed to help raise awareness of Human Trafficking.  You can read the previous article about the Opera here: Opera aims to tackle the issue of Human Trafficking

I think this is an exciting endeavor, the venue is different than most and will not only promote awareness of Human Trafficking it will also promote Opera and open the art form up to many who might not attend in the first place.

Lauren Bates, over at Lauren Bates Blog has the insider track on this undertaking. Lauren has this to say, about the art project and why she supports it, “I first heard about Anya17 when I was developing this charity comms and careers blog with designer Anna Celeste Watson. Anna had just started to talk to Ben Kaye about a website for Anya17 and I was shocked to hear about the living hell that trafficked women and children face every day.

NGO’s estimate that there is likely to be a sex trafficking victim forcibly working in a house or flat just 20 minutes’ drive from your own doorstep, no matter where you live in the UK. Just think about that for a moment. It’s a horrifying thought isn’t it, and one that should make us all want to stand up and do something to end this modern day slavery.

With my charity comms background, I’ve been doing my bit with online promotions and helping to recruit the project’s two digital marketing managers. But there’s much more we can all do to get involved. And here’s why we should come together to fight this despicable trade.”

Lauren is part of the volunteer creative team that is promoting Anya17. Human Trafficking Awareness Month is this month.  The opera will take place very soon and needs as many supporters as can possibly be found.

I thought a blog article about Anya17 here at Four Blue Hills would be another way of helping, not just by having another article here, but because I have “met” Lauren.
