History in my family when a country was in the making….

I am getting ready to go to sleep, was up all night working.  I ended my day on a very good note.

I have been looking for more information about Matthew French and his family.  Pain in the butt.  However, I came across a document that I am going to post here.  A few pages from the document, there are lots more, consisting mostly of names, too many pages to post and upload here.  I did upload the first page, explaining the document, and then two other pages that list some important information taking place at the time.  A little context, a bunch of names won’t mean a whole heck of a lot!

A very interesting note on the upcoming page regarding some incidents by the Cherokee people, remember hearing in History how some fought with the English, here is an example.

And this one, the one that created a HUGE lump in my throat. Had tears in my eyes reading this declaration of loyalty to the birth of a new nation.  USA.

And on this page, the name of my GGGGGGG-Grandfather.  Lordy, that is a lot of G’s.  Just think, if they were not organizing and redoing records they may not have found these old roll calls and notes in the attic. Isn’t it amazing.

I know I was in the military, “serving” my country and all that, but this guy, with many others, ACTUALLY had to fight for something that started a new nation, and all that comes with it.   They dared to defy the “establishment” and sought to create a new reality for themselves.  It sure is something to see it in writing when it is someone from your own family, not just reading in the history books. I can’t even describe, accurately, how it made me feel.  No words.

Ending my day on a GREAT note, I think!

Night all!

P.S.  The pages I didn’t upload contain names and I still need to download more, only because I would like to have any and all notes that are contained within this document, not just my ancestor’s name. :)   I am not sure how many there are, though I did download more than what I have shown here.

I am SO glad

I came back to work yesterday to stay the night.  Glad I bought enough clothes to last until Saturday when I get off work.  There is ice all over the roads.  The power has gone out a few times.  I was told the road between Powell and Cody was closed due to high winds, up to 100 miles per hour.  I am still getting wind advisories in my email.  I can’t believe the ice on the roads.  Can’t even walk in the parking lot without worrying about falling because of the ice left by the rain and snow.  It is now snowing again too.  It didn’t the whole night while I was at work.  It is now.  :(

It is the ice UNDER the snow that worries me. :(

Last night my brother called me when he got off work and was on his way home.  He was driving home very slowly.  About 25 miles an hour, he said the roads were awful.  The first time he called me I could not hear him.  After we did talk the phone, at work, kept ringing, but when I answered I could not hear a single thing.  I called my brother thinking it was him calling me again.  The phone would ring, it sounded like some one answered it but I would hear nothing.  I tried again the line was busy.  I thought he had had an accident on the road, called the sheriff too, to check.  I finally got through to my brother and he was at home.  Sheriff’s said even the phones have been messed up all night.  I don’t want my sister to drive to work this morning in this stuff.  I am gonna call her in a bit and tell her to stay home. She probably won’t.  ACK!

Had to take poor Shadow out in the snow when I went to my room.  He likes the snow, but not standing in it too much.  Can’t say that I blame him. :(
