My aunt took these photos yesterday, 5/27/2012, while at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego.

Look at the sheer numbers of markers.  At ONE National Cemetery.  Just one. Seeing all these numbers made me think.  If this is one cemetery, add all of the markers from ALL of the National Cemeteries. Then, add all of the markers for those who are NOT buried at National Cemeteries.

It makes me incredibly sad.

When are we going to learn?  Not just the U.S., cuz this isn’t just a U.S. problem.  It is world-wide.

I feel like we are thumbing our noses at all those who have sacrificed for us.  Obviously our governments have learned nothing after centuries of fighting.  Will they ever?  We can tout and yell about how we remember.  It won’t mean anything until WE ACTUALLY REMEMBER AND PUT THOSE MEMORIES IN TO PRACTICE.  Actions speak louder than words.  I’m sorry our soldiers, and those all over the world, have to continuously provide the “action” with their lives while our governments learn and provide nothing.

They think they are providing a great service when they provide nominal health care, markers for graves.  The best service would be to actually remember why people have died and to act upon it by making this world a better place. That is why our soldiers died, hoping to make the world a better place. Now if only our governments could do that, what could be a better service to provide? What better rememberance?

Boss

Boss

The “Big Boss” stayed at work last night.  I think he is leaving today.  I don’t use my Netbook so much when he is there…when I first started there he didn’t care.  (Been there almost 6 years) In the last year he has kinda changed his mind I guess.  MY boss says not to worry about it, especially cuz of the shift I work.  I don’t wanna mess up anyone else being able to bring their computer and use them.  So, I skim back a little.  I still have one other award to post, will do that tonight, boss’ absence permitting. :)

I started War and PeaceI think I am on chapter XVIII.  What do I think?  That unless these people start DOING something besides going to salons and dinners, gossiping and trying to figure out how to get money off of their rich relatives I am gonna end it.  It IS NOT GRABBING MY ATTENTION.  It isn’t bad.  So far, I am just wondering what all the hullabaloo is about.  I keep going…plodding on, figuring since it is suppose to be good, it might just be slow gettin’ there.  That and I really just hate not finishing a book I have started.  There have been very few of those.  Has anyone else read War and Peace?  Did you like it?  What did you think of it?

I get to pick up my puppy on Saturday!  YAYAYAYAYAY!  I can’t wait.  Gonna get the dog food, dog bed and dog dishes tomorrow before I come home so I don’t have to drive around with the poor thing in the car after I pick him up.  Be prepared! (Below puppy not my puppy, just a cute picture of a puppy.  I will post pictures when I get MY puppy.)

WAR NO MORE « As My World Turns

WAR NO MORE « As My World Turns.

Next Friday, October 7, 2011, marks 10 years since the United States invaded Afghanistan in the name of the “War on Terror.” Sadly, this summer President Obama announced he’ll continue our military presence in the country until 2014, and Congress has agreed to follow his lead.

Where do we go from here?

We’ve put together a short video based on Isaiah 2:4, which reads:

“He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples.
They will beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not take up sword against nation,
nor will they train for war anymore.”

Watch the video. Pray for peace. And then share this message far and wide. You can start by emailing Congress.

Sojourners and its members have spoken out against the war since the very beginning — speeches, protests, press conferences, letters — and we’ll continue to do so until it is ended. Approaching this unbelievable anniversary, we come together to mourn, pray, and recommit ourselves to bring this war to an end.

We hope the video is useful to you for reflecting on where we find ourselves at this point in history and as a tool to start conversations with your church, your friends, and even your family.
